Changing the Game Rules

A recent hard turning demonstration (right:
tungsten carbide sleeves) illustrates how the CoolTool changed the established paradigm in the current hard machining knowledge base.

Compared to dry machining, an Advanced MQL* composite spray improved PCD-coated carbide insert life by greater than 10x with 2x deeper cutting, and resulting in a better surface finish. This is a hard machining process
thought to be best performed under “dry” (i.e., no coolant) conditions.
